This New Geometry is now finished, to the glory and praise of Our Lord from whom all
graces and good things come.
It is new because it is newly discovered and because it has a new method for investigating
corporeal measurements, as shown in its figures, principles and questions.
This science is useful, as we said at the beginning of the second book, and it is a science easy to
learn, and through it one can gain better access to other sciences.
This science was finished in Paris in the month of July, year of Our Lord 1299.
